The Mission at Natuvu Creek Welcomes You! The Mission is truly an experience of a lifetime and we are certain that you will enjoy every moment of your stay with us. Come to Fiji and share in the beauty and culture of the South Pacific! Whether you are a dentist, an ophthalmologist, a construction worker, a teacher, an artist, a business person or a student, there is a place for you to serve the people of Fiji with The Mission at Natuvu Creek.
One of the most effective ways to serve the people of Fiji is by caring for their physical health. Many health problems, such as skin diseases and cataracts that would otherwise be permanently debilitating are relatively simple to cure at the clinic.
Patients come to the clinic which is located on the eastern coast of Vanua Levu, Fiji’s second largest island, from all over the island (pop. appx. 200,000) as well as from Fiji’s largest island, the capital city of Suva, the nearby islands of Taveuni, Kiowa, and Rabi. The population that can be reached by the clinic is in the hundreds of thousands.
Although the Fijian government works diligently to provide free medical care, specialized care is often not available or accessible, either geographically or financially. The result is many suffer acutely from debilitating, but treatable skin diseases, blindness, heart disease, various injuries, tooth decay, and more.
The doors of our 7,000 sq. ft facility are open Monday through Friday, when Dr. Denis Kalbermatter, a dentist, and Dr. Elizabeth Aguilera, an emergency physician, see patients. Also on staff are administrators, orderlies, and facilities staff to help manage patient flow and keep the operation running smoothly.
The air-conditioned facility has a large waiting room and reception desk area, several exam rooms, and an operating room. Available equipment includes a full eye exam center, equipment for producing prescription eyeglasses, a surgical microscope, dental chairs, pneumatic and other dental instruments, an x-ray machine, general anesthesia equipment, and equipment for a more surgical theater.
The Mission welcomes medical specialists, including but not limited to ophthalmologists, dentists, oral surgeons, pediatricians, OBGYN’s, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, cardiologists, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, health educators, and nutritionists. While the Mission strives to equip the clinic as completely as possible, medical teams can help by bringing the specialized equipment and materials they need. We are happy to provide the most current list of modern equipment that is permanently placed at MNC. Non-clinic volunteers are welcome! We provide assistance in our local village communities and schools. Everyone with a heart to serve is welcome!
Please consider sharing your gifts and your desire to help others by serving at the Mission at Natuvu Creek. You simply can’t give out as many blessings as you will receive from the deserving people of Fiji. At the Mission at Natuvu Creek, our vision is to create a community where physical and mental health is a top priority and individuals can access the resources they need to achieve optimal well-being.
Private rooms as well as shared dorm rooms are available throughout our large property . All buildings have beautiful views of the “extinct” volcano, jungle or ocean. All rooms are tastefully furnished and have private bathrooms with showers and modern flush toilets.
You'll dine in a beautiful thatched outdoor dining area serviced with a modern commercial kitchen. The Mission serves three healthy, mostly vegetarian, meals each day. Our water is from our own water source, double filtered for purity.
Onsite is a salt-filtered swimming pool, easy on the eyes and hair! Located on the beautiful Buca Bay beach, when not volunteering, our guests can swim (ocean or pool), kayak, hike, snorkel, play volleyball, ping pong, sunbathe, and enjoy the natural beauty of Fiji!
Our guests enjoy amazing nature and cultural excursions, from snorkeling or diving on the famous Rainbow Reef, to a visit to the beautiful Bouma Falls Waterfalls or Taveuni natural waterslide, to a pearl or chocolate farm tour, and more!
Each year, groups of university and high school students from the United States and Europe come to the mission for anywhere from one week to one month to learn, to serve, and to grow in skills, community and faith. A perfect place for students, as the Mission at Natuvu Creek stresses healthful living and is a tobacco, alcohol, and drug-free environment.
